Lake Peters

The Neruokpuk Lakes, Peters and Schraeder, are incredibly beautiful. The landscape choices are amazing: the lakes, glaciers, the Arctic Slope, Mt. Chamberlin (the highest peak in the Brooks Range), Carnivore Creek, the options are endless. This scene was painted one evening in late July or early August as a nightly dew moved in. The watercolor simply would not dry in the cold and damp air, so I had to concentrate on keeping basic color areas from touching each other so they would not flow together. I filled things in the next day.
