| Kongakut
River The Kongakut has been called "The River of Caribou." The Porcupine River caribou herd, estimated at 150,000 animals, uses the Kongakut River valley and the Aichilik valley to the west as major migration routes. The mouth of the Kongakut lies across a narrow channel of the Beaufort Lagoon from a barrier reef called Icy Reef. |
